Week 1
Week 1
Still life, Still here
For our first task, we were tasked to choose a still object scene and draw it traditionally, and as detailed as possible. I found this task rather difficult, as trying to give detail to the potted flower/bush was a proven to be tricky problem I had to surpass quickly, due to the 30 minute timer. I decided to keep it sketchy, but try and keep the proportions correct to keep a sense of realism and similarity to the scene (photo).

For the second task, we were asked to draw the scene in our own style, of which I thoroughly enjoyed. I chose to do this scene with fine liners and a black brush pen, as they are materials I'm comfortable using, and practised in. I chose to do this scene in a sketchy style as well, as I was using pen and have found sketchy styles alot of fun to play with at the moment. I would love to have a bit more time next time to really push the details, or add some colour to make parts pop.
For our final task, we were asked to make a collage piece of the scene. I really enjoyed this task, being able to be messy and abstract was really fun and freeing. I especially enjoyed making the converse/trainer and the roses, by adding layers of paper and sewing parts of the thread through the paper, I created depth and tone. I would definitely try and add more pieces of the photo/scene if I were to do something like this again.
