Design ideas

For my spot illustrations, I had one main idea from the beginning. I liked the idea of one of my thumbnails, a sketch of a hunting rifle's ammo being laid out. Designing it somewhat realistically to match the actual ammo was fun and challenging to do, as I wanted the style to match the cover idea as to all blend in. Im really happy with how they came out, although I would definitely develop them more if given the opportunity by adding details that show they are hunting ammo.

The second idea I had was also based off of a thumbnail I created originally, a sketch with the dollar sign symbol involved. Unfortunately I lost the work showing that particular piece, however I managed to redo some of the ideas below. I decided to do one with arrows pointing through the body shape, as I originally believed it would help shape the dollar sign more. However, I quickly realised that didn't work, but decided to keep it as a back up anyways. I also designed the other one below, which follows the natural curve of the tigers spine. I simple changed it to become an arrow, and added a famous slogan to the tigers back. I wanted to see if I could include text to make the image stronger. However, I quickly realised that also doesn't work. It simply doesn't work together and looks odd on the back of the tiger.

The last, and my personal favourite design is the laid down tiger, inspired by the dripping idea. I took the image inspiration from artists I mentioned previously, and adjusting it by looking at reference photos. I then looked at my previously designed cover ideas and edited my original sketch for this spot illustration to have the same drips. Im really happy with how this spot illustration came out, as I believe it had a nice composition and can be placed almost anywhere in a magazine and/or book and work well.
